What are Fortnite Sprites?

Fortnite sprites are collectible companions that arrived in Chapter 7 Season 3 of Battle Royale — and each season brings a fresh roster. Chapter 7 Season 4 introduces an all-new cast, from the Crown and Klombo to the Sonic trio: each sprite is a little creature with its own passive ability that travels with you into a match once you have unlocked it.

You find sprites inside chests and supply drops during a match — most of this season's sprites drop randomly rather than in fixed spots. Finding one isn't enough on its own: to keep a sprite permanently you have to extract it before the match ends. After that it's yours for good, and you can summon it in future matches by spending the Sprite Dust currency.

There are 19 Fortnite sprites this season. Each one comes in three collectible variants, so the complete set is 73 — and that's exactly what the sprite checklist above helps you check off, variant by variant, until your locker hits 100%. When a season ends, your board isn't lost: it moves to the Past seasons page exactly as you left it.

Sprite Variants explained

This season every sprite comes in three versions: Normal, Gold, and the new Cheat Master — the Matrix-styled variant glowing with green code-rain. Each variant stacks its own bonus on top of the sprite's ability, so a Gold Crown is still the Crown, just rarer and flashier. Earlier seasons had their own variant line-ups (Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, Cube, Quack…); those boards live on under Past seasons.

NormalBase

The standard sprite with just its own ability — no extra bonus.

Gold3× XP

Grants 3× XP from eliminations. A rarer drop that costs more Sprite Dust to summon.

Cheat MasterButton Mash

The Matrix-coded Season 4 variant, glowing with green code-rain. Grants Button Mash: Cheat Code inputs always count as correct, even when you mash them wrong.

Loot HackerBonus TBC

The hacked-loot variant added September 3, 2026 — every sprite except Mega Man has one. Its in-game bonus and unlock method haven’t been confirmed yet.

How to get Gold or Cheat Master sprites: you don't unlock variants separately — you find each one in chests and extract it during a match, exactly like the Normal version. When you spot a variant in a chest, grab it and extract it to add it to your collection. Gold returns from last season as the rarer, more expensive drop with 3× elimination XP; Cheat Master is Season 4's new variant and grants Button Mash, so Cheat Code inputs always succeed.

Fortnite Sprites FAQ

What are Fortnite sprites?

Fortnite sprites are collectible companions introduced in Chapter 7 Season 3 of Battle Royale, with a brand-new roster each season. You find them in chests during a match and extract them to unlock them permanently, then summon them in future matches using Sprite Dust. Each sprite has its own passive ability.

How many sprites are in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4?

Chapter 7 Season 4 has 19 sprites — including the Crown, Klombo, Jonesy, the Jackrabbit and a Sonic the Hedgehog trio. Every one of them comes in three variants (Normal, Gold and Cheat Master), so the full collection is 73.

Is there a Fortnite sprite checklist?

Yes — spritelocker is a free, interactive Fortnite sprite checklist. Tick off each sprite and variant as you extract it, and the tracker keeps a running completion percentage so you can see exactly what you still need — Normal, Gold and Cheat Master. Your finished boards from earlier seasons stay viewable (and editable) on the Past seasons page.

How do I get sprites in Fortnite?

You find sprites inside chests and supply drops during a match — most Season 4 sprites drop randomly rather than from fixed locations. To keep one permanently you must extract it before the match ends. Once unlocked, you summon it in later matches using Sprite Dust.

What are the Fortnite sprite variants this season?

Every Chapter 7 Season 4 sprite comes in three variants: Normal, Gold and Cheat Master. Gold is the rarer, more expensive drop, and Cheat Master is the season's new Matrix-coded look. Each variant stacks its bonus on top of the sprite's own ability: Gold gives 3× XP on eliminations, and Cheat Master gives Button Mash, so Cheat Code inputs always succeed.

What is the Cheat Master sprite variant?

Cheat Master is Chapter 7 Season 4's new variant — the sprite re-skinned in glowing green Matrix code-rain. You find and extract Cheat Master sprites in matches just like any other variant. Its bonus is Button Mash: Cheat Code inputs always count as correct, no matter how badly you mash them.

What do Gold sprites do?

Gold is the returning premium variant: a rarer drop that costs more Sprite Dust to summon than the Normal version. A Gold sprite grants 3× XP on every elimination.

What is the rarest sprite in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4?

Mythic is the highest rarity tier, above Rare, Epic and Legendary, and Season 4 has two Mythic sprites: the Crown and Klombo. Both level up in unusual ways — the Crown Sprite only levels by winning matches (faster with Crown Wins), and Klombo only levels by consuming items, handing you random loot at each level.

How do I get the Sonic, Tails and Shadow sprites?

Chapter 7 Season 4 includes a Sonic the Hedgehog collab: Sonic makes you sprint faster, Tails lets you hover in mid-air, and Shadow automatically reloads your stowed weapons. All three are Epic rarity and are found in chests and extracted like every other sprite.

What happened to my Chapter 7 Season 3 sprites — Gummy, Galaxy, Gem and the rest?

Season 3's sprites and their variants (Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, Cube, Quack) left the game when the season ended. Your collection from that season isn't gone: the Past seasons page keeps your whole Season 3 board exactly as you left it, and you can still fix mistakes on it and export it as an image.
